Australian Education Consultancy Limited (AEC) was established in 1987 as a private education consulting company providing information and placement services to students who wish to study overseas. In January 1998, AEC became a wholly owned subsidiary of the prestigious University of New South Wales, Australia (UNSW) and was subsequently acquired by UNSW Global Pty Limited (UNSWG) in 2003. UNSWG is a not-for-profit, wholly owned enterprise of UNSW and also a market leader in the provision of education, advisory and training services to business, government and non-government organisations, and the community.

To better serve the local community, AEC has operated under its trading name “aec Education Consultancy” since March 2011. In 2012, AEC gradually expanded its recruitment markets into the UK, US, Canada and New Zealand. Since its operation, AEC has established a quality reputation in the industry and has been appointed by hundreds of overseas institutions as their representative, including English language centres, high schools, colleges and universities.

AEC has a very good network with the local and international schools in the Hong Kong and Macau region because one of AEC’s core businesses is to manage the "International Competitions and Assessments for Schools" (ICAS) in this region. ICAS is an independent diagnostic test written and conducted annually for Primary 3 to Secondary 6 school students in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Writing. ICAS takes place annually in schools throughout Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Pacific region, Singapore, South Africa and the USA for over 20 years.

In order to ensure the provision of excellent quality service and comply with industry standard, all staff members of AEC have obtained the qualification as Qualified Education Agent Counsellors (QEAC).
